Castle Hill South – Lakeside Public Art Proposals

Flea Folly Architects have recently been appointed to produce two lakeside commissions for Castle Hill South.

Titled 'The Ghost Follies of Castle Hill' their ideas draw on the theme 'In the Woods' and the communities' response for artworks to:

  • Be in harmony with natural landscape/habitat
  • Connections to the water
  • Community meeting place
  • Events/performance space
  • Storytelling – personal narratives and new mythologies

FleaFollyArchitects propose two structures which are inspired in their pavilion-like structure, in form, from the timber castle keep that may have sat atop the nearby motte at Sweyns Camp.

We welcome your suggestions and views which will further inform FleaFolly Architects' designs.  The consultation will run from 25 March-8 April 2022.

A New Centre for the Garden Village

At the heart of the emerging Alkerden village is a new market centre which will provide commercial, retail and community facilities as well as new homes.

As we deliver our plans for the market centre, we want to ensure they continue to reflect the views of the local people.

We held an initial consultation period in December 2020, where we gathered the thoughts of local stakeholders via an online survey.  Thank you to everyone who submitted their thoughts.  This feedback has been taken on board and will inform the emerging designs.

On Thursday 10 June 2021, we will hosting an online virtual consultation event from 5.30 pm until 7 pm.  It will be the opportunity to hear the latest about Alkerden Market Centre and get your questions answered by live panellists working on the project.

Learn more about the event or register to attend here: https://www.alkerdenmarketcentre.co.uk/your-alkerden/

The engagement will be recorded and published, so if you are unable to attend you can watch via the link above at a later date.

Ashmere Phase 2 Plans – Have your say

This consultation information has been prepared to provide information and seek comments on Countryside Clarion (Eastern Quarry) LLP's detailed reserved matters proposals for Phase 2 of Ashmere in Eastern Quarry.

Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, we have had to undertake this consultation virtually. You will find enclosed details of the proposed scheme as well as plans and visual impressions.

We hope this exhibition gives you the opportunity to understand our proposal and provides an opportunity for your comments. Your feedback will help us shape the scheme proposals and inform a future application submission to Ebbsfleet Development Corporation (EDC). It is intended that the application will be formally submitted to EDC shortly.

Public Art Proposals – Have your say

Be part of the development of the incredible Artworks being designed for Whitecliffe's entrances.  Proposals by acclaimed visual artist Jessica Lloyd-Jones were chosen by the community in Sept 2020 to define the entrances to Whitecliffe.

Jessica has now produced this video
https://vimeo.com/509238334  sharing her inspiration for the pieces and the unique geology of Whitecliffe that inspired its name.  The video shares how you can take part in an art activity.  We would also welcome your suggestions on what light colours the artworks should be on special festivals and days e.g Valentines Day, Xmas Day.   Send your thoughts, comments, artworks  to carol.unwin@groundwork.org.uk by 28 Feb 2021 in order to influence the final pieces.

Please forward jpg images of your artwork projects, as we will try to share as many as possible on
https://www.facebook.com/Whitecliffe-Public-Art-Ebbsfleet-100706388704952.   This page will be regularly updated with progress and ways to get involved as various artworks for each village are being thought about, chosen, and created.
